Perry Leopold | Experiment In Metaphysics (Psychedelic Archive) M- / M- | U.K.'1995 | 110.00 |
(it's in the early 70's of the 20th century... a 19 years old guitar-stringin' barde leaves his home in New Orleans & bumming his way up to Philadelphia w/a stringed wooden box 'n some songs he hits the cold of big city's streetcorners (as a busker) where nickels do not flow as abundantly as the frowns on the passers' front; ...after a certain experience has blown the ancient shapes, lines come tumblin' down 'n float into song 'n rhymes; he hits a studio to record 'em for an album, sticks the platter into a plain gold card-board cover & tries to sell it out on the streets while playing the songs... mostly gives it away! some 15 years later the album hits a record dealer's list w/ a value of seven hundred bucks... ten years later the price has been doubled & the tides have been risen for a reissue & the artist will finally get his share! (...) the music is Acid-Folk... lysergick pluckin' on americana Folk/Blues scales w/eastern flicker yieldin' an enraptured twang from beneath the hood of the picker! metaphysics?? well, if ya' expect outrageous effects, warped brayn-crossover, distorto-sweller-bliss & proto-Goa vapour fillin' the abyss... plus a messaian beard on the hover... you're pretty much amiss!! ...just his voice, a guitar & 7 songs! yes, not even a trace of a tabla 'n a sitar... but you can be assured it wasn't mere wine fillin' the jar! "the absurd paranoid", "the 35th of May", "when you're gone (everything goes)"... make the titles of some songs performed here... epistels from profound human wasteland richly speckled w/idioms of joy 'n fear! has a thick golden card-board-sleeve w/photo attached on front plus insert-sheet, pressed on quality vinyl!...vinyl looks barely played; cover close to perfect; with insert.) |
