Can'1969 |
75.00 |
|
(2nd album by this 60's Boston band feat. Peter Rowan, David Grisman...; Bill Keith helps out on pedal-steel guitar, John Cale plays viola ... plus a brass section feat. Jack Bonus; quite a departure from the magic their debut is shrouded in! ... this album is centered around the epic tittle-track (10:41) blastin' fro' w/heavy fuzz-guitar, poundin' rhythms 'n brass ... an impressive anti-(Vietnam) war(and any WAR!!) oeuvre w/biting, poetic lyrics yielding a fierce blow from the cynic's mouth bred on shizoid blankets! (parts of it remind of the expressive works of the Jazz Composers Orchestra (Mantler/Bley) to come afterwards(!!) ... opening track is the great 'n charming "home to you" & "Alfie Finney" written by drummer Paul Dillon, is a mynd-ticklin' honeymooner lullabye w/breezy pedal-steel 'n drowsy harmonies!gold-label print!! ... and it's gotta be a canadian print! there's no mentioning of a country on cover & disc though ... but the cover is mega thick and folded/ glued differently (to the U.S. print) ... the sound is most dynamic ... fills almost a similar full scape as the white-label promo print!) |
