(late 60s U.S. release of Don Nix produced (Don also wrote most of the songs) string-arranged Folk-Rock/Pop/Ballad album; ...well, passed me by at first ear (MANY moons ago) due to the impression that it's over-arranged (cutting deep into that 'Major-label-Schlock-Pop' thing)...now, MANY moons later as I harkened again to these 2 Vinyl grooves I must admit ...back then I did not scent the air of Innocence & fragility these lines are soaked with (probably due to the fact I was hooked on songs by Rex Holman,Perry Leopold, Bob Edmund... and the likes..well..Acid-Folk is the term)...well, goes to show that a 2nd chance you are able to give (to anything(...) may proof as a revelation! as for my archives I now have one more item to stash away into the bottom drawer which is labeled as: 'NEGLECTED/OVERLOOKED/UNDERRATED Singer-Songwriter albums from the 20th century(1st Millennium); most songs written by Don Nix;...nice vinyl (weight: 180 grams) plays EX to Near Mint with in-audible surface marks; Cover with small saw-mark in opening (near bottom) top right- and bottom-left corner slightly bent; seams and spine are nice; small spot of faint stain on front(top right) MINIMAL to zero storage-wear(rubbing) on front & back; nice labels (NO spindle marks) Pics here are from this copy : www.discogs.com/release/15804854-Sid-Selvidge-Portrait | |||
