(call me bozo... call me flipper-wyg... but the album by this canadian trio I line up for a definite candy-date for the hall of fame of 20th century Pop-lore! ...and it even rushed me by sor some strange reason the first time I put it on the turn-table... could it be 'cause o'that sleaze-golden, silver-letters embossed choco-brown cover, or that disgusting (to look at) "fried-egg" label design in the middle of white vinyl (which surely did not come first!) ...could it be for that bombastic sound-scape (in parts) that's a-hoverin' heavy in the room 'n just won't clear... yess, it never does... and caution here! ...it'll probably swallow up your attention by entanglin' yer' ossicles first 'n leave ya' hooked w/ears swollen w/thirst for more to be booked!Zappa-tized 'n Zombie-popped shreds of Pop breathing headily unreel thru' a blue-bent fyltre w/phased, synthesized,wah-fuzz smoulders, throwing about w/childish boulders, unchaynes Marcus along colorful, vivid-w/-any-sin trax, stares at the Big Star & hits some savage moon-gardener w/ a jackpine...; the lyrics (printed on the inner-sleeve) are androidly bent w/lyserk boiled rhymes high on the prowl! ...among the very few things in Rock History I'd label w/ genuine "Pop Art... and a B.R.A.Y.N."!! ...and well, on the back sleeve it says: "Hello from the future, soon you will understand...;...Still sealed (UN-CUT) orig. print. ...sleeve shows traces of ringwear and 2 silver letters have tear, bottom seam has slight tear (1cm), bottom right corner shows fray;) |
