(...any album that starts off w/ a Chuck Berry number must be a good album! (save maybe an album by Chuck Berry himslef..?) Banana, ex-YOUNGBLOOD, multi-instrumentalist and eccentric hipster-dude started of in the early 60's in Boston... as the name  "Banana and the Bunch" seemed to be too corny he changed it into "The Knight of Pythias wake the dead Gospel Four"(!!??), his next band was The Trols and then he joined the Youngbloods! Michael Kane who was also in before mentioned bands joined the Youngbloods later on; along w/Joe Bauer (he's also got an album on Raccoon!) Banana decided to resurrect Banana and The Bunch in the early 7o's; 15 corny songs stretchin from raggy R&R via folksy moonshiner-bozo good-timey tabs to jazzy instant-cookings 'n Blues; Steve Swallow helps out on bass..; great cover of Bill Monroe's "sitting alone in the moonlight"; cover-photo (by Banana) rounds up this gem of an album perfectly! promo-issue in bliss-shape!)

(Folk-pickin' 'n stringin' 'n fiddlin' quartet from Dublin that have recorded a set of 7 (seven) albums for "Outlet records" ( never have seen one!) the owner of the label was shot before the release of this album!; on this great U.S. release recorded in '72 these guys get mighty political and prove to be great  intsrumentalists and singers!the songs/themes date back to the late 18th century but also feat. the topics of late 60's/early 70's of course; sorry, the booklet is missing;)

(Missouri-born banjo-picker 'n singer hooked on 'em Southern Appalachians trad. Folk-songs recording his first album in the early 60's (in his mid-30's) ..."the cuckoo, "railroad Bill", "market square" ... a song based on "the Boston burglar", which in turn has apparently been derived from "Botany Bay" a ballad about a prisoner facing transportaion to the Australian penal colony. Fleming learned the version sung here from the singin' of Lee Monroe Presnell, 86 year old ballad singer from Beech Mountain, North Carolina...; well, if ya' want to learn about the origins of the songs contained here, there's a great booklet coming with this album...; seems to be the fourth album on the label (judged by the number... "FSI-4" but the jacket states
